This is an experiment modifying Simplicity Mild with the addition of Beech smoked malt. I may have to try this a few times because the amount of smoked malt to use seems to have no solid guidelines. All over the internet I am reading some people saying 3-5% is giving their beers plenty of smoke flavor and others saying 60%-70% can barely be tasted. There are some suggestions that the age of the malt makes a big difference and so I may end up needing to start smoking my own malt for consistency.
