This is a good one. Hopefully next time I brew it, I won't screw up.

Did the usual process, mashed at 153F, took a gravity reading before boiling and it was very, very low. I reviewed my receipt from my lhbs and saw I got 5.2 lbs of Maris-Otter instead of 8.2 lbs. Checked my email I sent them for the order and I definitely mistyped the amount.

By the time I could accurately check my pre-boil gravity, I was well into boiling. I mostly check it just to see. But since I've got to cool it from 150F+ to 60-70F, even a small amount actually takes quite awhile sitting in the refrigerator (I should find a way to cool it faster). It worked out more or less ok though. The boil was going, hops were already in, etc. I couldn't just adjust to a smaller batch. So I corrected for the gravity with 1.5 lbs of table sugar.

The beer isn't quite right. It's a bit light bodied and not as malty. Both of those things were expected. The base flavor is still good, though. Done with the correct amount of base malt, this is going to be a really good beer.
